Mary Jean enjoys learning different
techniques of painting. In a summer course taught by Maxine Masterfield
she learned to do "sand painting," in which sand, water
and sprayed ink achieve images that are intriguing in their abstract
nature and therefore interesting to interpret using pastels and colored
pencils.
