To get more depth to his illustrations,
Chris creates a world made of endearing characters and intricate sets.
Chris is the designer, costumer, builder, inventor and photographer of
award-winning Red Nose Studio. The name, Red Nose Studio, came
about because Chris wanted something original and memorable. While
in school, Chris had painted a portrait in the style of Singer Sargent
or Rembrandt, adding a touch of red to the fleshy nose.
His teacher told him to be careful that he didn't overdo it, because he
wouldn't want to be known as the "red nose" artist. Chris says
that his teacher chuckled at the name he
had chosen.
A few of Chris' creations |
| Chris was involved with the design firm, Planet
10, and Quality Printing
in creating the "Red Thread Project." Hey Fred! Nice Red Thread is
a book composed of Chris'
original poetry and photographs of his creations. A red thread,
used somewhere in each picture, "ties" it all together. Chris, Planet
10 and
Quality Printing used the book to showcase their abilities. Chris
is now working on a story/art book that makes use of homonyms.

Chris enjoys working from the studio
behind his house as it allows him to be close to his wife, Jennifer and
son, Owen. Pictures of his family share a bulletin board with his
sketches and ideas for future projects. Chris says that, when he
is not creating "red nose" characters or their habitats, he and Jennifer
are playing with Owen, renovating their house or working in their garden.
