Antoinette (aka
Toni) was drawn to art at an early age. For as long as she can
remember, she has seen blank paper as a place to draw. This
included notebooks, journals, paper placemats, napkins and the
margins of church bulletins. Her favorite subjects were mammals
and birds. Toni took art classes throughout high school and won
Freshman Best of Show at the 500 Festival Art Show. For the past
seven years her art has taken a back seat to her pursuit of higher
education. She received her Bachelor of Science in wildlife
biology from Ball State University and recently earned her Masters
Degree from Louisiana State University.
Toni with a fine feathered friend |
| Toni and her husband, Brian met at a
dance at Perry Meridian High School. They had each come with
friends, but neither had a "date." They danced together and have
been sweethearts ever since, weathering separation and long distance
phone bills while they attended schools in different states.
In October 2007 they were married. The invitations that were sent
to friends and family members were lovingly constructed of paper hand
made by Toni.

Toni arrived in Baton Rouge about two
weeks before hurricane Katrina hit the Louisiana coast. She and a
fellow student were sharing a two bedroom rental house, but felt so
blessed at having missed the brunt of the storm, that they invited
displaced New Orleans residents to stay with them for a time. They
still hear from the family occasionally. Toni made many friends in
Louisiana and one of them suggested that she use her artistic talents to
design a logo for the Baton Rouge Audubon Society.
